Silver Art Deco Enamel SOLD OUT

SKU: 01-Bbuckle8 Categories: ,

We happened upon this cache of rare French enamel Art Deco shoe buckles in an old Virginia general store, dead stock from the 1920s! The fashion of wearing buckles on shoes flourished in the 17th century, and came in and out of fashion into the early 20th century. Brilliant cut steel buckles such as these were made in Paris circa 1890-1900. As with buttons, men wore the fancy shoe buckles in the early centuries, but by the mid-1800s, shoe buckles had passed into the realm of women’s wear.

  • French Art Deco champleve’ enamel shoe buckle, circa 1920, 1 ¼ inch by 2 inches.
  • Two silver-plated brass stampings made today in the USA in antique dies.
  • Silver-plated brass chain and findings.
  • Bracelet length 7 inches, extending to 7 5/8 inches.
