We spent several months this year hunting for thistle buttons, afterall we had to do something to entertain ourselves during ‘Droughtlander’. Our most fabulous finds were some sterling silver Art Nouveau thistle buttons, one of which is featured in this piece. This button is hallmarked which means it has markings that certify it’s purity and place of origin. This button was very valuable in its time and would have been sold as a set in a late nineteenth century jewelers shop or haberdashery.
We especially love this particular button as it unifies the symbols of the British Isles with a thistle for Scotland, a rose for England, and a shamrock for Ireland.
As this piece is a limited edition, you’ll receive the exact buttons you see in the image (while they last).
