Grandmother's Buttons Launches Retail Website

St. Francisville, LA Grandmother's Buttons, makers of jewelry from antique buttons for almost two decades, recently launched its inaugural shopping cart website, www.grandmothersbuttons.com. Featured on the highly interactive site will be more than 100 of the company's best-selling bracelets, necklaces, earrings, brooches and watches, more than half of which are made with authentic clothing buttons from the period 1880-1900.

Owner Susan Davis explains that the site has long been a company goal: "We offer a specialty product that has a group of devoted followers nationwide, but until now it's been difficult for them to see everything we make without traveling to our flagship store in Louisiana." Shoppers can browse the site in many ways: they can view thumbnails of certain types of jewelry (i.e., bracelets, necklaces, etc); they can pull up thumbnails of all items made with antique buttons; or they can view items by design groups (faceted crystals, natural stones, Oriental design, etc.). "It is one of the most dynamic jewelry sites I've ever visited," she says proudly. Also on the site will be a listing of hundreds of the gift, museum stores and boutiques that carry Grandmother's Buttons products nationwide, for those customers who would prefer to see items in person before buying.

Davis is particularly excited about the changes the site will make in the way the company introduces new items. "In the past," she explains, "we have only come out with new designs every six months, in conjunction with the wholesale gift markets we attend. Now we can try out new pieces on the web site every month, making the whole process much fresher and more exciting for us and our customers." The site will also feature sections for special edition jewelry (one-of-a-kind pieces made with especially rare buttons) and discounted items.
